Here's an update on what promises to be an excellent summer, with new projects and new opportunities.
My work with Marty Nightengale has been going great! We have made a lot of progress on new songs, and things have gotten much tighter. We also have a more solid direction, positioning our act as a live band/DJ replacement group: we deliver the great crowd participation DJs brag about, but with the passion, excitement and originality of a live band….all for the cost of a DJ.
So, look for us along the Front Range this summer under that persona, with a heavy focus on the Fort Collins college scene and some favorite Denver and Colorado Springs craft beer hangouts, including Bar Louie, Lucky Joe’s and Pappy’s Corner Pub in Fort Collins, the Pourhouse Bar & Grill in Loveland, Teller’s Tap Room and Growler USA in the Denver area, and Bar Louie in Colorado Springs. Here’s just a sample of how things might sound and the fun we have!
Speaking of the college scene, Marty and I have just wrapped up production and released our first professional promo video. Check it out on this site's home page or on YouTube. We'll use this production in a competition to earn a slot to tour colleges across the U.S., to work our way into the “corporate” circuit and for better, higher-paying bar gigs.
One of those corporate-circuit bands I’ve been working with lately is the Mannequin group’s "Downtown Band." It’s really a corporate-wedding-party band, and we're doing a good amount of gigs together this summer. A really nice, fantastic, entertaining and talented group of people!
From time to time, I have the privilege of joining in on some gigs with G'Jai's Jook Joint Band. Back in January, we did a week-long stint for the Wind River Hotel & Casino’s New Orleans-themed VIP Party Week “at the intersection of Bourbon and Orleans”…in Riverton, Wyoming.
March found me on a fun trip to an exclusive Key Largo resort with Noble Production’s Tuxedo Junction band. You can check out some photos of this trip here, when I was taking a break from the music…it was a blast! I really enjoyed being able to hang out with such great musicians for the whole weekend, including our horn section leader Dave Camp, my mentor and sax instructor since 7th grade. You can check out more of his work on SoundCloud or watch his grand entrance at about 5:00 of this classic video.
So, now you're caught up. This summer is by far my busiest summer yet, and I'm extremely excited and humbled by all of the opportunities I have had and for all that are coming my way. Thank you all for your support, and hope to see you this summer at one of my many gigs!
